Spot on Rod.

Sometimes referred to as Copiapoa barquitensis, a synonym for hypogea.

Re: Trichocereus pachanoi

It's this rather crappy forum software that's to blame. I recently posted pics of plants for sale and they ended up sideways. The same software that makes me log on the few times that I do nowadays. No reason whatsoever for Ragamala to jump in with snappy personal criticisms. So very tiresome. Ragam...

Re: Stones, pebbles, cracked terra at the bottom of pots worsens the drainage. Solved

I'll chip in here with a comment that I've made before on the subject of pebbles or the like in the bottom of pots. Follow the advice of not having pebbles in pots and you'll be in danger of having plants that are totally pot bound, solid with roots that cannot take into new compost in the larger po...

Just think, Ralph - so many labels written to date, but so very many in the future!

Re: Enjoying the afternoon sun...

That's very impressive, Diane. I've never got into growing this type of plant - perhaps it's time. Yours is tight against the pot. Are the roots the same? Also, would you always advocate the use of clay pots for drainage, presumably as in this case?

They were probably following the sun. Didn't want to miss any.

Re: Oreocereus hendricksianus

Nice plant Peter, and a nice selection of woolly cacti. just goes to show I was miles off target in trying to identify my plant. I get the feeling that Oreocereus aren't that 'fashionable' anymore, but I like them and them and the woolly cacti. You're dead right Mike. It's not at all recent, this l...

Oreocereus hendricksianus

Further to MikeDom's mention of this in his Oreocereus thread, here is my plant. It's amongst my favourite cacti, as to me, it's distinctive and attractive. A slow grower though.

Re: Cleistocactus winteri colademononis Solved

Tina makes valid points about the good old days of the forum. As an early contributor (some years before the 2007 date quoted on quite a few members' details. That was a software change), I fondly recall the banter that went on. For example, 'other succulents' were weeds to us cacti growers (of spik...
