Two species of Lithops
Back in the day it was sometimes said that there were botanists who thought there were only 2 species of lithops. Presumably yellow and white. Was Peter Bryuns' name linked to this? Is this rumour correct that a botanist had said this? Did some genuinely think there was a case for 2 species? Or were...

Re: Confusing names: aren't rebutia and aylostera the same
Worth remembering that the DNA evidence is still that, evidence, it isn't necessarily the "right answer" and still requires significant human interpretation. In particular, if I recall correctly this study only used chlorplast DNA. Which means it only followed the maternal line of evolutio...

Re: Tylecodon confusion - ID sought
Thanks Derek. So I think you are saying that 1. GR467 is stenocaulis 2. Previously GDR had suggested it was a pygmaeus form before Bruyns recognised it was different and published a name, stenocaulis 3. Rumours that GR467 is striatus are mistaken. Is that right? Mine is the same source as Acid John'...

Tylecodon confusion - ID sought
Hi, Another Tylecodon that confuses me. Came as "GR467 T. stenocaulis, Beukesfontein". From Ralph's database GR467 comes up as T. striatus from that locn. The flowers look more stenocaulis to me, but I am not familiar with the variability. Can anyone confirm? Is the GR467 a typo or are the...

Re: What do you want from the BCSS?
I know there has been loads of work on the website and having reliable updated info on there will be great. It is difficult to refer people to it now since it is so out of date. So the work going on now will pay great dividends. I'd like my journal as a pdf so I don't need to store the paper, and to...

Reports I have are that valdezii is notably quicker than ritteri. Probably not a good mix.
