Re: Updated seed lists

Yep: Also František Šibal from the Czech Republic has updated his seed lists. The list can be inquired via email. Send me a message if you want me to send you his email address (I don't want to publish it online). The list mostly contains South American cacti. Same goes for the list of Ladislav Fisc...

Re: Pleiospilos bolusii

Thanks Aiko. I've given a very, very light watering but will now keep dry from now on. You can still splash every now and then when the soil is dry and the weather nice (enough). Maybe even well through December, if they are in a greenhouse and there is hardly any frost and still some sunshine on a...

Re: Pleiospilos bolusii

It’s my understanding they’ll take more water in spring and autumn, they’re largely dormant over summer and they’ll absorb old leaves and hopefully flower over winter? They flower in autumn mostly. They are more spring and autumn growers. I keep on watering them occasionally in summer anyway. Keep ...

I don't think I have ever seen this one big. So about 5-7 centimeters seems to be mature for as far as I can tell.

Re: Autumn Cactus and Succulent Show at RHS Harlow Carr 23/9/2023 - the photographs

As somebody with no interruptions to make I enjoy all the interruptions about these photos, makes it very interesting, really informative about judging etc, keep them coming from my perspective If it is on key, no problem. But I can relate with el48tel on some chatter. In the "Updated seed lis...

Re: I've been here since 2019

I'm an avid seed sower & would like to know the best time of year to sow conos which are coming from Ukraine & Hungary. You grow without artificial light and heat? I don't. But I have a greenhouse. September would be the best time, normally. I personally would say late March, so I can get t...

Re: Lophophora starting to rot -what do I do

If it is soft and spongy, then I would cut it out until you come across nothing but fresh looking greenish tissue, and all the brown stuff is gone. If one of the parts is hard, I would have a look to see if it spreads. You could take a pen and mark the edges, to see if it spreads the next week / wee...

Re: Trying to find a book on cacti

Go back to the same library, look for 'cacti' and check every book they have on the subject. I don't think there are a huge amount of books to go through.

Re: Is anyone using an electric dehumidifier in their greenhouse at this time of year?

Interesting thought, but my greenhouse stays fully open apart from maybe twenty cold nights most winters, and I don't fancy paying to dehumidify the entire atmosphere.. Same here. To be honest, dehumidifying a greenhouse sounds like a very odd idea. Fresh cool air is all you need to keep your plant...
