Re: Lights for succulents in winter
Hi, I am wondering what your natural daylight length is during the winter and I am assuming that your plants are in a greenhouse or conservatory but I could be wrong. My point is that here in the UK our daylight length during the depth of winter is around 8 hours at its lowest and that depends on wh...

Re: Lithops otzeniana question
HI,
Yes I would water now or the plant will never get into the same regime as your other Lithops. If this were my plant I would very gently cut off the excess leaf, perhaps not to the very stem of the newer head but near and then let it callous for a week before watering.

Re: Can anyone ID this please?
Hi, I am 99% sure that this is a Sohrensia. If as Stuart thinks it is a Notocactus then why is there no evidence of it having flowered? As to having a yellow flower it must be a Notocactus - some Soehrensias have yellow flowers. And in any case Noto roseoluteus as the name suggests has a rose pink f...

Re: New IKEA cacti
Hi Colin, Your Pilo pachycladus really is big enough to flower now, in fact Tony thinks 1m is tall enough. Morawetzianus really does not need to be that tall, there is a tendency for the tallest stem to fall over and then the plants shoots from the base or along the stem and should begin to get more...

Re: New IKEA cacti
Hi Colin, I am afraid that we have very few bedded out plants now but do still have our Eulychnia in the bed and it flowers every year, nearly touching the roof and has a couple of offsets, its lovely and woolly something it would not be in the wild. The Vatgun was about 8 feet tall when it flowered...

Re: New IKEA cacti
Hi Colin,
Tony and I have seen Vatgun in flower in our greenhouse and it is nocturnal opening like Espostoa. At the moment our tallest plant is recovering from one winter when the top was damaged by cold but I am sure that it will flower in a year or two.

Re: Some plants at Croydon Branch Show
Hi, Shame you couldn't get to the show, there were some really excellent plants there. Regarding your branch - North Surrey branch has closed and all members have been transferred to Croydon branch unless they requested otherwise. North Surrey could not contine as their membership was dwindling and ...

Leaf Cutter bees Something which we have been plagued with on and off over the years are leaf cutter bees and this year they seem to be far more prevalent. Charming though they are we do not like they way they chomp through whatever is in their way in the pot including thick tap roots of Lophophora ...

Re: Cylindrophyllum? I think not.
12.7.2022 Hi, I wondered whether you had received any posts on this mesemb's identification and thought I would have another shot at trying. It is not Cheiridopsis. But it could be Cephalophyllum, but I am more inclined towards Machairophyllum although I am not totally sure. Perhaps I have given you...
