Re: October 2011 Photo Competition - Euphorbia

I sowed E. schoenlandii this march and three germinated, now two are alive and restarted growth after summer dormancy. I hope they'll become like the one in your photo one day Günther. I already had a small schoenlandii before I photographed that specimen, but mine wasn't doing very well. Now I bou...

Re: October 2011 Photo Competition - Euphorbia

About the colour of the E. coerulescens. My plant's new growth isn't reddish at all, but on page 2 of the very first photo competition (subject: spines) Acid John shows his plant that does have the red colour in the new growth!

Cheers

Re: October 2011 Photo Competition - Euphorbia

Well, I don't think anyone will post any pics anymore now, so it's time to judge. First I'd like to thank everyone for sharing their pictures. It was very hard for me to choose between pictures of Euphorbia 's because they are all awesome, but I narrowed it down to the following 3: Angie's E. aerugi...

Re: October 2011 Photo Competition - Euphorbia

I love Euphorbias and unfortunately I have too many pics to choose from, so I will post 4 of them. As this is not fair, I will not partecipate at the contest, just show them to you, enjoy! Wow Eve, you sure have some lovely species and also great photo-skills. Looking at the other photocompetitions...

Re: October 2011 Photo Competition - Euphorbia

Nice one Devrim, I love how you made a very nice picture of a more common species! Smudger, I really envy you for having such awesome plants. And certainly the original owner did an outstanding job on growing them to this stage! To think that last year, I was so proud for acquiring a E. stellispina ...

Re: Aloe polyphylla - 12 month's on

Seems like you're doing good! During my internship in Kirstenbosch, SA; Ernst also had troubles with a small plant (about the size of a child's fist). It started making decent roots and growing after putting it in the soil brought from it's natural habitat. I know that taking soil from habitat isn't...

I just used the name which was on the label, I didn't look into it further
No worries, I wasn't trying to accuse you of anything

Re: I must be mistaken, surely?

I personally love a good old Copiapoa , but wouldn't buy one that's dug up from habitat. And I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt, but that 'KK 1868' doesn't look very legit... A home grown plant from his nursery will probably look a lot nicer than a plant grown in Europe; but I think it would ...

Re: Time to introduce

At the ELK in Belgium, by any chance? I can recall a cristate Euphorbia obesa on display then. This might be the only cristate I do think is pretty. You probably mean the big one with a carton board that said "propose a price" ? No, not at the ELK, I did buy a cristate E. flanaganii there...
