Re: Greenhouse tips?

Aluminium, not wood; nil maintenance. Buy as large as you can afford, it will not be big enough. But you may move and move again and again, small may be best perhaps to start with. My first greenhouse was 8x6, I have traded up and moved back to 8x6. You can fit a lot in an 8x6! Buy new I suggest, yo...

Re: Gasteraloe cv Wonder

I’ve only come across the dreaded black spot on aloes and gasteria, and Wonder does seem prone to it. I’ve always assumed the cause is a combination of poor ventilation / air flow combined with temperature too low.

Re: My greenhouses are "refreshed"

Very impressive, but I thought it would be, Tony. A great set up to be proud of. Most concerned at the lack of gasterias but I gather they are tucked away low down, shy as they are. I’m the same as you (in my micro set up), never spent so much time tidying and repotting this time of the year. Proble...

Re: Root mealys...

That is interesting Stuart. Our local garden centre has had beautiful mother in laws tongue x different versions. The picture of health. Bought one for my daughter. When repotting for her I found the roots were absolutely jam packed with root mealy. It had me baffled.

Re: Root mealys...

Amazing where root mealy bugs come from, and what is worse you cannot see them. I find a combination of neem oil and fairy liquid works, that’s if I remember around three or four neem treatments in the soil. If a plant looks poorly there is a good chance that hidden root mealys are in action. Not he...

Re: Amethorum ISI 1662

I wondered what this plant really was, the name Amethorum “rang no bells”. It’s a beauty. Rene sold an interesting variety of plants. Oh & I did like his labels in that fine writing, Still looking good after ten years.

Re: My cactus collection - youtube video

Welcome to the forum Jonathan. You have joined at a particularly tricky time of course. Normally I would highly recommend you go to local branch meetings and the jewel for acquisition of new plants and local to you will usually be the North West Cactus Mart which is amazing. Always very nice well pr...
