Re: What seeds did you order? 2023
From ADBPLS Aloes- bowieae forbesii hoffmanii parallelifolia parvula reynoldsii Yes, Aymeric has (had?) a fine selection of less usual Madagascan Aloes. I've only just got my order in, but I'll see what I get from my selection. I've added a few hardy(ish) cacti and a Bulbine. I missed out on B. tor...

Re: Importing seeds from the EU to the UK
On a very quick read through, I didn't see anything suggesting that a Phyto certificate will be needed for importing cactus or succulent seeds from the EU.

Re: Ecehveria Maria worries
They look OK, probably a little stretched and open. These are quite cold hardy, they should be fine in an unheated greenhouse if kept dry over winter. They certainly don't need to be moved into the centre of a room overnight. UK winters have very little daylight, so it is best for many succulents to...

Yes, I kept watering. Not too much as it does get a bit cooler over winter.

Re: Opuntia humifusa seeds
I have seed pods now browning and withering. Do I need to wait for total dryness? How many seeds should I expect in a pod? What sort of size are the seeds? Are there any special cultivation notes for the seeds? I found O. humifusa easy from seed when I tried it, with good germination within a few w...

Re: If I haven't seen a mealie bug for a year
Very interesting Nick, incidentally did you damage any plants with your submersing regime? I've killed things in the past when trying to eradicate mealies. I believe you have relocated to Shetland, so wonder if the different, and presumably colder, climate might be a factor. Whatever the reason, lo...

Re: If I haven't seen a mealie bug for a year
If I haven't seen a mealie bug for a year do you think I've conquered them or am i just kidding myself? For a couple of years prior to relocating I carried out a regime of completely submersing all my plants (plant, pot, substrate, the lot) in a bucket of the most noxious insecticide I could lay my...

Re: Hoodia seedlings
I overwintered a batch successfully last winter by chickening out!
They stayed in the propagator, under lights, and all did very well.

Re: Are Haworthiopsis self-fertile?
I've had H. tessellata occasionally self-pollinate, producing seedlings true to type. I've not had other types self-pollinate.
