And they also do a lot of professional, i.e. large sizes, of expanded clay as well as packs of vermiculite and perlite (5 - 10 litres) for garden centres and the like. But it seems they have been in trouble for a bit, certainly not a share to hold recently http://www.william-sinclair.co.uk/company/c...

Re: Adeniums and Grow Lights

For sciarid flies/ fungus gnats - have a search for specific treatments but I would suggest 'GnatOff' - a bacillus thuringiensis treatment that I find works very well (read the instructions first of course...) The advantage of the specialist treatments is that they do kill the larvae and it's those ...

Re: Adenium Soil Mixes

I have to admit to being a hardcore coir user: I started with the pre-soaked ready to us variety but very soon moved onto the hard stuff, those bricks are really solid, you know... The ready-to-use is probably better if you don't need much but the small house-brick size blocks are pretty good and ch...

Re: Tesco Cat litter

There is also Sanicat, by Tolsa, which has noticeable larger grains. I did post a thread with photos of the two products a while ago http://www.bcss.org.uk/foruma/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=162108& just scroll down a few messages. I agree with Dave, I think the 'perfume' is less nowadays, or perhap...

Re: Where to place my greenhouse

...get a base and concrete the corners into the ground but i'm not sure if i feel that is enough on it's own. If you want to go a little further then do as I suggest with the corner piles, and then lay concrete/some other material blocks (that will support the base of the ghouse panels) onto a 10 c...

Re: Where to place my greenhouse

Then i was told it would be better to concrete each corner of the greenhouse base into the ground but i didn't just want to do this solely. Sylv. From my relatively little (2 aluminium ones recently) experience of greenhouses they usually have holes along the base section and you would screw that d...

Re: Where to place my greenhouse

I don't know anything about having a membrane, what would this consist of? Sylv. If you're laying a concrete floor slab, which I don't think you are, you would lay a sheet of plastic damp proof membrane (DPM) under the concrete (usually hardcore, then sand, DPM, concrete - the sand is to allow you t...

Re: Where to place my greenhouse

Certainly with the plants you mention the sunnier position would seem the best and anyway if you find it too sunny it is somewhat easier and certainly cheaper to provide some sort of shading and cooling than the other way round. But of course being exposed will also expose it to cooling winds etc. i...

Re: Get paid to grow succulents

few years ago I went to local office and asked what do I get to start mass caralluma production.... but they had no clue what caralluma is I admit that I had to look up what its commercial prospects might be - yet another appetite suppresant ? And what's wrong with Hoodia ? But I am surprised at yo...

Re: Adeniums and Grow Lights

Think I might get a heatmat that are sold for reptiles, same kinda thing but cheaper than the ones sold for plants Certainly soil warming cables can also be used, I've had some for years, initially I did use them buried in sand for seed raising but later on I used them for frost protection by just ...
