Re: Agave talk & pictures
Unfortunately I'm not currently in the position to plant anything out, hence my current setup of using very little in the way of organic matter in my potting mixtures. In theory this should reduce growth rates while still keeping the plants going, though I would really like to plant some of my bigge...

A few pictures of some Agaves growing outside for the ‘summer’: A newly acquired A. montana. I don’t really have the space but look at those marginal spines... Re: Agave - need advice please !
I agree based on the description that it is possibly an issue with mould. It is worth noting that 'Mediopicta Alba' is much more susceptible to mould than other forms/cultivars of Americana. I have had plants develop brown spotting after overhead watering during the summer, even though I use a very ...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
Amazing pictures  I have read all of your Mexico reports before and the one from 2014 with the mitis X montana hybrids was particularly interesting (tu) Speaking of A. gentryi and montana, my RPS sourced montana seedlings are a varied bunch. Only one seems to show typical montana characteristi...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
A. Montana (X2). An absolutely stunning agave, but one of the few that protested to last years heat. I'm not ashamed to say I bought another one not long after this photo was taken (oh, and some seeds on top of that). I don't have a problem, honest! They are both getting new pots this year. This isn...

More photos: A. 'Blue Brian' (images 1 & 2), a parrasana x potatorum hybrid. I can't find any information about its origin but I presume it is probably a Brian Kemble hybrid? They are both (surprisingly) very variable for now widely distributed hybrids. image.jpeg image.jpeg A. Bovicornuta image...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
I'll change the label for my potatorum based on those photos. Thank you! In the meantime, while the winter is (unfortunately) with us, I might as well post some photos I took last summer. A. Parrasana. image.jpeg A. Ovatifolia. As one of my absolute favourite Agaves, I should probably get it a nice ...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
At the possible risk of embarrassing myself, here are a few of my variegated Agaves: image.jpeg A. VR 'White Rhino'/albomarginata (I have no way of telling what cultivar it actually is) and 'Kazo Bana'? Yes, I know these little guys can't hold a candle to some of the examples shown in this thread, s...

Re: Agave ID
It looks like A. parryi to me. As for the variety I would probably say var. truncata owing to the angle of the terminal spines and the rounding of the leaves towards the tips.
