Re: Neoporteria growth

(tu) That's just what I did. Looks to be a reasonable mix of compost and grit although not enough grit for me and my fear of problems with all this genus and root rot. There's a reasonable amount of good roots too. I presume this isn't a tap root former?

Neoporteria growth

20170716_192835.jpg
The growth on this side seems a bit weird or deformed.

This side seems fine? Has it been damaged and growing through or am I going to find it going oddly cristate?

Thoughts? :???:

Showing question

Just a question from a novice and very amateur grower, provoked by a comment in the latest journal article on Aloe. The author mentions being unable to keep a plant in show worthy condition due to the leaf tips drying out yet the article mentions the beauty of the colouring of the plants in the wild...

Re: Windowsill collection expands...

Some of the plants I'm pleased with that survived our frost vs heater battle. Re-potting is going on now as time allows. Chatting about the plants always seems like good therapy for my Dad :geek: 20170626_181935.jpg 20170626_182509.jpg 20170626_182438.jpg Sadly the basic apps on my phone won t allow...

Re: Remedies against mealybugs - what do you think?

Certain ants have a symbiotic relationship with homopterans like mealy bugs. Ants like nectar / honeydew, which they can seemingly milk when the mealy bugs are eating vegetable matter? Ants can act as defenders to predators of the bugs. What an amazing world. ;) Still, I want to kill them when I see...
