Greenhouse kept at a minimum 6C, Vladimir. Buds are steadily developing on this and two other Stenocactus, and on other genera too.

What's happening with these Stenocatus flowers?
Stenocactus multicostatus budding up, but, looking closely, it seems these buds are exserting what appear to be nearly mature anthers long before the flowers are open. Has anyone else noticed this with this orother species? Perhaps an adaptation to prevent self-pollination? Mike [attachment 2581 ste...

Re: More First Flowerings
It was Aporocactus... I wonder what it's called in the new Lexicon? I'm using Anderson's 'The Cactus Family' as my reference, and trying to keep up with changes - tho' not always successfully. It's a wonderfully vivid pink for mid-March, whatever we call it! Mike (Good point, Colin... maybe when the...

And coming up on the rails... Disocactus flagelliformis.
This one also flowering for the first time for me. Don't know why but I thought it was a summer-flowerer.

Re: First Spring Flowers
You've inspireD me to take a closer look at my Ancistrocactus scheeri, or should I say Sclerocactus scheeri? It's in a 3 inch pot, and...lo-and-behold, there's at least one bud forming! This will be the first time I've had one of this genus flower.

Re: Conophytum burgeri
Extraordinary - looks like one of those little sweets called 'Jelly Tots'. Certainly doesn't look like a plant!

And third, opening a bud produced many months ago, a plant I have tentatively identified as Parodia horstii, though other opinions are most welcome. A particularly vivid pink for mid-March! The plant's about 4-inches across now.

Second was another Mammillaria, M. bombycina. This is in a 4-inch pot, and unlike my other M. bombycina shows no sign of producing any offsets.

More First Flowerings
Thought I'd share my first three cacti into flower...
First in the race was Mammillaria elegans. This one's in a 5-inch pot.
