Re: Lithops seeds
I have small amounts of seed of many Lithops, much collected from my plants, I am happy to part with some, but as regards x pollination that is a risk! Hi Geoff If you are willing to ship to Canada I would love to get some. http://www.bcss.org.uk/foruma/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=161603 I would be ha...

Re: How to force flowering?
...you're in Canada, right? Bear in mind that a lot of us are in the UK where conditions are completely different Sorry, I thought I filled my location in. Yes, I live in the other London... And yes I know that it is quite different but I was hoping for some general conditions required that I may b...

Re: How to force flowering?
The first thought that came to my mind was the species that you currently have... Here is a few samples. Anacampseros, Astrophytum ornatum, Echinopsis (I'd love to have the chamaecereus Silvestrii and the x lobivia hybrid 'Rainbow Burst' flower), Fenestraria rhopalophylla, Gymnocalycium baldianum, ...

How to force flowering?
I am getting a bit frustrated and impatient. I have grown cactus, succulents and some mesembs for a number of years and have not had very good luck in getting them to flower. They flower sporadically and not often. I see so many postings of beautiful plants that I own having flowers and mine show no...

Re: Leaching diatomaceous earth
I don't think it would be directly staining the plants, but perhaps you are seeing additional corking due to the change. Perhaps the plants need extra fertiliser (SOME fertiliser?) in that type of soil. I add fertilizer to the water every time I water. I don't want to create corking. I can accept i...

Re: Leaching diatomaceous earth
Have you tried putting some of the diatomaceous earth in water to see if it leeches brown colour? even if it does I can't really see that it would harm the plants. Yes I have washed it to use for sterilized grit for seed starting. That is why it made me wonder since the water is a pale tea colour. ...

Leaching diatomaceous earth
I have had mostly cacti for a number of years and they were always grown in store bought cactus soil of one sort or another. Mostly they survived for me. Last year I decided to get more serious and try and find proper names for all of them. And in doing so I discovered I not only didn't know the pro...
