Re: AEONIUMS

Hi Roger, I'm an Aeonium fan and I have quite a few. Reading what everyone else says, I would say that their advice goes along with what I do. I have experimented over the years and once I discovered that Aeoniums are winter growers adjusted my conditions to suit them as best I could in an English c...

Re: Succulenticon 2008 Displays and Outside Gardens

Trevor, another thought. Those cacti growing so well outside on the hillside, is there a danger of escapes and the whole of Australia being over run with strange species? After all it has happened a few times before-look at rabbits and toads etc.I still love those Lithops and the Ferocacti and the wh...

Re: Aloinopsis and friends

Thanks Ian. I will keep trying with the Delospermas and I do have some space outside that is sheltered for winter. BTW have you seen Trevor's Succulentithon? There are some Lithops at the end that you would be sorry to miss.

Re: Aloinopsis and friends

Very nice trough Ian, how big is it? Is it real stone or hypotufa? I love all those delospermas and have not had much success with growing them. It looks like a trough is a good idea, the trouble is I've already got some and they weigh a ton and there won't be much room in the greenhouse in winter.

Re: Fruit and Flowers

Those red berries on the Mammilaria prolifera are a fantastic shade. They look good enough to eat.

Re: Succulenticon 2008 Displays and Outside Gardens

Thanks again, Trevor, for sharing your Cactus and Succulent experiences with us. Absolutely terrific photos and wonderful scenery. I particularly loved the Ferocactus with those red spines. Where is Iann? He's missing those Lithops! Never mind when you are 89, maybe yours will be as good. Mind you, ...

Re: A blooming good red

I loved the fabulous reds of the plants. As for the football, it seems to creep into everything. I have a few Rebutias and they are only just in bud, I put that down to lack of sun and water. Thanks for reminding me they are alpine plants, it is something it is easy to forget with cacti.

Re: Stapelias ID please!

They both look like Stapelia Variegata to me. It will be easier to identify them when they flower. Keep them in the greenhouse during the summer and be moderately generous with water, they look big enough to flower anyway.
