Re: Shading

From peoples' comments, it sounds like Varishade might have advantages over Coolglass, both in terms of its flexibility and ease of removal. I shall certainly try it.

Re: Melocactus + cephalium <> replanting

I has visited someone's greenhouse today, and noticed the Uebelmannia, Melocactus and Discocactus where on lava, and the pots with lava were always standing in a layer of water. Occasionally the will get feeded with a diluted solution, but they are always standing in water. Summer and winter. Anyon...

Re: Hunt & Taylor & Charles & DNA

Darn, and it seems so easy at CSI, 'shake it baby' then print and you got bad guy or girl :) Very good! I think the difference with criminal investigations is that DNA is being used to determine the relationship to an individual organism, not an entire species or genus represented by a potentially ...

Re: Shading

The spray type is 'Coolglass' and is very effective. Thanks, Peter, that's very helpful. Coolglass is the brand I have been using but I bought my supply, which does not become more transluscent in wet conditions, some years ago in a closing down sale. Perhaps they have improved the formula. Werewolf.

Re: Shading

Huh? are you saying there's no cost saving to bubble wrap insulation the higher you heat your greenhouse or have I misunderstood your comment? I don't think I said there was no cost saving, I said what I had found was there was no worthwhile cost saving, a subjective term I admit. When you're heati...

Re: Hunt & Taylor & Charles & DNA

Hi AnTTun I think one of the problems with such a database is that it is going to be very large and hugely complicated, if it is to carry all the necessary information. Then comes the matter of interpretation and subjective opinions on where to draw lines, etc. Could be interesting, though! All thre...

Re: Shading

I have noted that spay on shading is available for polytunnels that returns to virtually see through when it is wet , allowing for more light transmission , I assume it could equally be applied by brush to glass Hi Lobman Do you have a brand name? It sounds like something I'd like to try. On the su...

Re: Hello from Bedfordshire!

Nice to 'meet' you, Scotty. As you've joined the BCSS - the Journal is excellent, by the way - I do recommend visiting your nearest branch, if there is one local to you. Face to face is still the best form of interaction and the Society has some very informative speakers (some of whom are active on ...

Re: Hello from Scotland

I won't say 'welcome' because you've probably been active on the forum longer than me, so 'nice to meet you'!

Are you Billie or Benjamina (or am I just showing my age)?

Happy growing!
