When taking Alluaudia cuttings are they just planted straight into compost? Rather than letting the cut end dry out first like with a cactus cutting, I mean. I've not taken many caudiciform cuttings before.

It was a great Peruvian cactus talk, and there was even a bonus Fuchsia photo. He had a nice selection of cactus for sale too so I got quite a few Rebutia species. I read about how easy Adeniums are to grow from seed but the first time I tried the seeds all went mouldy. With hindsight, February maybe wasn't the best time to try. I had another go in summer and they've nearly all germinated.
