Flowering in Anderton today

The recent warm sunny spell has moved a number of plants on into flower. Firstly a couple of Wessner echinopsis hybrids : IMG_0969.jpg IMG_0971.jpg Next some of the thelos are getting a second wind after an earlier bout of flowers back in May : IMG_0986.jpg (usually considered now to be a ssp. of T....

Re: Hildewintera 'Rotenfels' Bum 35 5

EH 'Pluto' is a cross by the German hybridiser Andreas Wessner. Apologies I was incorrect earlier in calling it a tricho cross. It is stated to be EH 'MARGARETHE' (Wies 601) X EH 'APRICOT DELIGHT' (SPI 397). The parents are two older hybrids. 'Pluto' has been used in a number of newer hybrids becaus...

Re: Cleistocactus wendlandiorum

is it just me or is the Pres. getting disturbingly cactified these days? I too have wendlandiorum which has put on rather a fuller display than usual this year 1858d_c_wendlandiorum (11).jpg I can sort of see the ssp. brookae angle. I like it for the sumptuous display of orange against the bristly w...

Re: Akersia roseiflora question(s)

Age and advancing senility meant I had forgotten I had posted into this thread and have posted the flower pics to one of Sylvias threads higher up the chain. Inserting a link to it is a bit beyond my capabilities so here are the pics : 2098d_a_roseiflora (6).jpg 2098d_a_roseiflora (7).jpg @Brian - d...

Re: Hildewintera 'Rotenfels' Bum 35 5

I acquired one of these earlier this season but it is yet to flower. Jane is spot on with regard to Buchmann as the hybridiser - he has produced quite a few distinctive HW hybrids. The cross behind 'Rotenfels' is stated to be : (Bolivicereus sp. X EH (Rippe)) X TH 'Pluto' (Wessner) The Bolivicereus ...

Re: 3 Hildewinteras

And let's not forget that other currently popular parent in the HWH breeding stakes : Akersia roseiflora (yes I know its in Cleistocactus now). Opportunely (for this post at least) mine flowered for the very first time after 6 years of waiting this very morning! 2098d_a_roseiflora (6).jpg 2098d_a_ro...

Re: A few Trichocereus out today.

Super plants as always Sylvia! Heres a few of my tricho hybrids that have obliged over the last 2 - 3 weeks. I like the tricho hybrids not only because they are generally bigger flowers but the tubes are shorter and they seem to last a day or two longer than their echinopsis friends. First a couple ...

Re: Turbs, Notos etc.

Nice pics Rodders - must remember to get the camera out when my few Notos are doing the business (make a nice change from all those Echinopsis hybrids pics)
