How to pack Lithops for posting?
Dear Folks, Someone has at last shown interest in my Lithops-for-Sale post in the For Sale section. Now I need to ask for advice on how best to package Lithops for travel through the post . I will also need this presumably if I am donating plants in future via the MSG excess plant sharing-out scheme...

Re: 'Places to Visit in the UK' forum?
I third this excellent suggestion (tu) following on from the earlier thread http://www.bcss.org.uk/foruma/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=114719 Seems to me that the easiest way would be for everyone to send in details of cactus-and-succulent sites near / known to them, including the address of the place an...

Re: Memory of Bob
I like the idea of a living legacy of plants passed down the generations. A cheering article about Amazonia reported that local farmers had started planting slow-maturing Amazon-native hardwoods again, despite the fact that only their grand-children would reap the benefit of harvesting the timber. W...

Re: Lophophora williamsii: self-fertile?
Euan, Yes, please let us know your secret! It must be your mix, thats all I can think of. Beginner's luck? Genetic luck? Lightbox and food? In my earliest attempt before learning from the Forum about soil sterilisation and Chinosol, I sowed 100 Lophophora williamsii seeds from the less-than-ideal s...

Re: Lophophora williamsii: self-fertile?
What I'd really like to find is the yellow form that used to be called Lewinii... Nice picture - and a very different variety from mine... Dear Peter A, I think the name " lewinii " as originally published by Hennings in 1888 [ sic ] on ths basis of re-hydrating desiccated "mescale b...

Re: Lithops dorotheae
So is this C300 or C124? Neither. This is not a listed Cole population, but is known to the appropriate organisations in South Africa. Glad to hear that there are in fact other colonies of this beauty. Sound from what you say about this being a threatened population that the precise location should...
