Re: Thinking of getting a greenhouse or cold frame. Advice needed please
An actual example of ‘heater for peanuts’ would be useful rather than just the statement itself. I’m in the market for a couple if you know where I can get some. Al Largely agreed, but a heater and thermostat can cost relative peanuts - mine cost very litttle, although I did build the thermostats. T...

Re: Import from Bob Smoley?
Are you sure this is still operational? Bob Smoley died about 3 years ago and I know his sister took over the business but am not sure if it’s still going. But there is no ‘he’ any more and no ‘his’. I used to buy Sansevierias from him years ago when both plants and postage from the US was very cheap.

Re: Agave ovatifolia
This is my ovatifolia. About 16 years old, never had any winter protection. Agave bracteosa also thrives in an English winter. What a beautiful plant! It would be good to know which part of England this is growing in with you? English winters in the north of Northumbria can be quite different from ...

Re: Aloe ortholopha
Anybody out there grow it? Mr Walker? I’ve just acquired some seed and apparently it comes from Zimbabwe and grows in a limited area in chrome rich soils. Wonder how you recreate that? Do you need to? Hi Mike I’ve seen it in habitat in Zimbabwe and have also raised it from seed in the UK. It will g...

Re: Help deciphering number
Thanks everyone for your replies and sleuthing abilities which were far superior to mine. I did search the Mesa Garden site Fred but obviously not hard enough.

Re: Havering Cactus Mart
It's a relief to see it publicised at last!! This has traditionally been one of the most popular cactus and succulent sales events in the south-eastern area of the UK in recent decades. I am pleased to see it promoted at the last minute by local enthusiasts!! I look forward to meeting many people t...
