'It works out about an extra ?50 a quarter on my elec bill'
OUCH!
23 years of Lithops growing and mine have cost me nothing to light.
If I didn't have free lighting I think I would grow something else!

Re: Aloe plicatilis
I have already tried a cross with Gasteria liliputana and one of my A.descoingsii X A.bakerii hybrids, but aloe flowers are a bit thin on the ground at the moment. A.dumetorum finished a little too quickly. Aloe jucunda X somaliensis is nearly ready as ...

Aloe plicatilis
Just over a month ago I posted a message saying that my Aloe plicatilis was going to flower. Well the moment has arrived. The amazing thing is that the plant is growing in a 6" pot! I never thought I would get plicatilis to flower seeing as they can grow to over 14' high. This hobby is full or ...

Hi Tom,
Is your first pic of chrisocruxum one plant or a bunch of small plants touching each other?

Re: Lithops twins?
Ian, These plants were actually part of a Lithops group planting exhibited at the Hartford show a few years ago, when they were housed in a bowl. I have always found that these plantings, when containing quite varied(for interest and aesthetics) lithops, after a couple of years there are one or two ...

Sorry to drag this one back up, but came across this pic taken in October 2006 and remembered Ian saying he didn't have a pic of L.marmorata in flower.
So, if any one was wondering.....
.....L.marmorata var. diutina is the one at the back!

Re: Lampranthus spectabilis
And finally,
a closer view of the flower. Not as striking as the D.hispidum, but there are a lot of magenta flowered mesembs. This, combined with the foliage gives a subtle, delicate appearence.

Re: Lampranthus spectabilis
A close up of D.eburneum. Perhaps a little more attractive than the D.hispidum foliage, with it's curved leaves.
