Lenbell, I cut a mammalaria spinossima up once (it had a split in it). The top half I rerooted, the bottom half I treated as a normal plant once the cut had dried. I've never moved with many plants but i know people who have. If you can afford it, hire an extra removal van, pack your plants in crates and travel with them. As Peter says the problem is storage when you arrive at the new house. The barn idea sounds good or a carport, anything to keep the wet off.

Nick, I also have an Aloe Polyphylla, I got it from John Henshaw at the Tatton Show, this year. He told me it is a tough plant that likes plenty of fresh air and does not need to be pampered. I haven't watered mine yet, it is in a cool greenhouse, near to a vent and has been down to 1 or 2 degrees C...
