on the bottom pic of RSM'd plant corking seems to be coming from the base, so I wouldn't rule it out

Re: Heated propagator

temperature-wise seedlings are absolutely fine in a heated propagator over winter. Your main problem is giving them enough light, as without that it isn't really even worth growing them over the winter in my opinion. I have grown quite a few different species sowing them around December time and for...

Re: Help

well, most of the plants photosynthetic tissue has died or gone corky, I think whatever the cause it's probably not all that worth saving unless it is a rare hybrid or something along those lines. My money is on RSM too, maybe they have all left :s

Re: ELK 2012

ELK was amazing (my first big plant fair) literally spent every Euro I had. Not that impressed with the lectures on offer, nothing for a dedicated succulent person. Fantastic plants, great experience. I spent all of saturday at the beach once I had all my plants!

Re: Please help me identify these cacti

the opuntia is Opuntia monocantha variegata. Euphorbia is most likely E. horrida (but it needs more light!)

best of luck :)

Greenhouses & damp proof membranes

Can't remember where I heard it now but someone or other suggested putting a damp-proof membrane down in my greenhouse before I put some gravel down etc. Has anyone done this? I imagine it must help retain heat quite a bit. Wickes seem to sell a decent membrane for £1.50ish per square metre which se...
