Re: Cactus IDs please
Thank you both for the ID. Does anyone have any idea as to the specific species of the plant in the first photo?

Cactus IDs please
I’ve had these for a while but they unfortunately remain nameless. I am far less experienced with cacti than many of the folks on this forum, so any help with ID suggestions would be appreciated. Here’s the first. Some kind of Echinopsis? It’s been relatively hardy (survived -3 undamaged in 2018) so...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
A few upcoming repotting projects that I’m very much looking forward to... A. salmiana var. ferox. I’m confident this one is the real thing so I should probably stop neglecting it. It got through the beast from the east in my unheated greenhouse fine but I don’t want to test it any further owing to ...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
Some of my favourite smaller plants: A. shrevei ssp. matapensis. I’m really liking the contrast between the spines and leaf colour at the moment. It also seems to get cross banding on the leaves quite easily, even in not-so-sunny England. A13799FB-A3FF-4837-A5B0-D5758960FC2C.jpeg A. parryi var. trun...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
Here are both of mine. The second is an offset that came from the first plant when I bought it. This was a nice surprise considering they tend to share the non-offsetting nature of non-variegated schidigera (at least for me anyway). Re: Agave talk & pictures
You have a lot of very nice plants there (tu) Regarding 'Shira ito no Ohi': https://www.achat-vente-palmiers.com/en/ This nursery in France usually have them but it currently says 'coming soon'. https://agavespecialist.eu/ has some rare plants so they might be worth a try. Beyond that they will like...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
This was highlighted on the Agaveville forum earlier: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DivineDesert?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=1081884764 Evidently habitat collected, evidently illegal, yet the people selling them aren't even making an attempt to hide it. The eborospina in the first listing...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
I would say it was a reasonable size when I bought it in all honesty. It arrived in early June so by the time it had to come inside for winter it had a decent root system. It was sent bare rooted from a UK seller. I may have to try again with a bigger plant if I see one for a reasonable price (which...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
I am still highly tempted by the 'albomarginata'/'White Rhino' VR's whenever I see them listed on eBay but I can't justify paying the prices they are listed for. I bought one in 2020 but it randomly died last winter. It was indoors on a windowsill that gets plenty of sun, planted in a suitable mediu...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
All of those hyprids look very promising, especially the lopantha and sobria x parrasana. I wouldn't mind having a go at cross-pollination myself, but I have yet to have even one Agave flower.
