Re: neochilenia saxifraja
There's a Pyrrhocactus saxifragus which is referred by some to Eriosyce iquiquensis. That's my best guess.

Re: BCSS SCHEDULE
I would hope it'll be available on the website too, to save the society a bit on printing and postage.

More on systemic insecticides
Provado's imidacloprid and thiacloprid have been discussed here many times before, the consensus being that imidacloprid is more effective against mealybug than thiacloprid. There are two other systemic insecticides that I've recently come across, and I wondered if anyone had any experience of using...

Re: 6cm .pots
I agree with Ian. I want 8" square pots that are maybe 4" deep!
The larger deep pots must be available given the fact that most roses and climbers (clematis etc) in garden centres seem to be in these.

Re: Kew
I went for the day back in November 2000. If you're fairly fit you might just about be able to see it all if you get there when it opens and you stay until it shuts! It may have changed but back then the C&S stuff wasn't hugely impressive - it was some of the outside stuff and the likes of the p...

Re: BCSS photo gallery
Some of the verification codes are a bit odd and it's hard to tell capitals from lower case letters. In addition, some are generated a second time and don't work even if you're correct. Keep clicking the image of the code until you get one that couldn't be anything else.

Re: BCSS photo gallery
Well I seem to have made a bit of a blunder. I uploaded 14 pics this morning. I couldn't see an option to specify which folder/subcategory I wanted them in so assumed the moderator did that. They've all appeared in the top level cactus folder and I don't see how I can move them. I now realise that d...

Re: Who said it was the start of growing season?
Slightly less snow here but still more than I've seen for many years. Had some company in the garden earlier, though.

Re: Caterpillar tracks
Have you used Provado (probably imidacloprid version's best) enough for it to be taken in to the plant- maybe watered in - leading to systemic action? Or just tried it as a contact insecticide?

Re: All these names.....
No, it lists [most] validly published names. To someone, somewhere, all names are current. The kind of list I think you're hoping for can't exist.
