To me it looks like Echinopsis eyriesii, I think some include this with Oxygona anyway though .

Many thanks for the quick suggestions guys, to me the first sulco looks like krugerae v. hoffmannii and the second merkusii as you say Ross. Both were pretty "hard" grown, so I think they're both a little more purple/black than you might normally expect, they came from Ralph Northcott at c...
