Thanks, but I bought a couple of hundred to keep me going two weeks ago. Wyevale do not sell pots this small. I use them for sales propagations i.e. cuttings.

Re: Look Closer (more Haworthia) :D
I'm jealous! That's the sort of kit I want.
You could try reversing a wide angle lens in front of a telephoto lens to get real macro magnifications.
That would definitely need a strong light source - good old sunshine?

Re: GPS
I too have been looking at buying a GPS. I believe even the basic ones can load waypoints back to a desktop computer. Then I want to store co-ordinates into a spreadsheet, for use with existing GIS software - to plot plant localities of course. Has anyone tried this loading from a GPS to a PC? Derek...

Re: Forum day out/Meet.
Hi Fellow Forumophiles, The day before the Oxford Auction is the annual Zone 6 Convention, hosted by Coventry branch this year in Rugby. Two overseas speakers plus two nurserymen, plus book sales. This is always popular and would be another good, central place to meet - tickets in advance though. [a...

So how did you take these impressively close photos? Is that just how close your digital camera will focus? Please remind us what model. Any tripod?

Hi Anacampseros Growers, You are probably both thinking of Anacampseros namaquensis - no such name as A. hirsuita has been published. Alas, those seedlings are still too young to be sure of their identity. They may well be A. namaquensis, but there is a more woolly new sp. published. I would have to...

Re: Haworthia reinwardtii var chalumnensis
That was a very astute observation by Bruce Bayer - how to differentiate Haworthias coarctata and reinwardtii. If I remember correctly, coarctata has 5 & 8 leaves per spiral, while reinwardtii has 8 & 13 leaves in the two directions, and is hence broader. It always worked for checkable plant...

Don't be afraid to water Argys in winter - that is a very shrivelled plant! I water mine every few weeks at this time of year, but they are in clay pots. The Knersvlakte is cool in winter. There is no need to bring them indoors -they will prefer cold (but not freezing) nights for CAM. All the best, ...

Re: Flowering Namaqualand Film - BBC2 Tues 8:00 pm
I've looked these up in the "Common Names of SA Plants" Dictionary by C.A. Smith (also of Adromishus fame): "Milkweed Araujia sericifera, see MELKBOL. Asclepias fruticosa: very generally called SHRUBBY MILKWEED. Euphorbia helioscopia and E. peplus, see MELKBOSSIE. The vernacular name ...

Re: Dyckia, love at first Bite ! Solved
Scary! I haven't seen those cultivars in UK cultivation - maybe they need a bit more heat than most of our c&S. You get lovely red colouring in your plants.
