Achieving the Ultimate Caudex - Pots?

I've read lots of contradictory information and opinion around caudiciforms and how their shape can be affected by the choice of pot in which they're grown. In particular, I'm referring to Pachypodiums and the like. For example, some believe that long (rose-like) elongated, narrow pots allow a (vert...

Re: ELK 2019

Mike, do you find that the pachypodiums generally do better in terms of shape and growth when 'underpotted'?

Re: ELK 2019

Only issue appears to be parking but then I think that'll be the same for most! Yes as you approach the venue if you see cars lined up along the road outside, just park there with them, as it means that the car park will be full. It's only 2 mins walk from there anyway. If it's your first time, be ...

Re: ELK 2019

Thank you, Gerald.

I think we've gone for that one, so that's a relief. Only issue appears to be parking but then I think that'll be the same for most!

Re: ELK 2019

Does anyone have any accommodation recommendations, please? The centre is fully booked and I'm needing parking too.

Thanks for any insight...

Re: legal question, photo's, children n permission etc

Issues around taking images of children can be based around whether they are a Looked After Child (or previously were). In this instance, the child's anonymity is important as it could lead to birth parents tracking down the child using the internet (if they know the rough vicinity in which they liv...

Great thread addressing some balance!

You have some excellent plants, Mike. I've now added the Cyphostemma betiforme to my shopping list.

The Elusive Operculicarya Pachypus

These seem to be like hen's teeth to find. Is there anywhere that I could buy one from in a semi-mature state?

Social media shows that it seems to be that they're owned mainly by Japanese and Chinese collectors.

Is it a case of having to go to ELK for one?

Thanks...

Re: pure pumice?

Mike, You and I grow many common plants... and you live very nearby! Beautiful pachypodium. I grow my caudiciforms in pure pumice and nearly always have done. The only exception is pachycaul trees. I've always kept them growing in a very pumice heavy medium but have introduced 20-30% JI for extra nu...
