Re: BCSS seed distribution

There's hardly any children at ELK though at UK Cactus Marts, particularly Herne Bay with good local publicity there's a good proportion of children accompanied by their parents. They know what they're looking at and know what they want to buy and it gives good hopes for the future of the hobby. Her...

Re: Gymnocalycium ID request

Gymno Damsii, might have been split into a few varieties but they're all basically Gymno Damsii.

Re: Problem with Rebutia

I'd agree with Terry about SB Plant Invigorator, I only started using it last year but it works well against RSM and mealies. It does damage farina but that soon grows out and it does need to be used regularly until all eggs have hatched. When used from the concentrate form, it's fairly inexpensive....

Re: Haworthia pumila cultivars info

Haworthia Pumila fights back, added on 13,000 hits overnight, now up to 93,600 and heading for victory. Is there a Dominion counting machine hiding here somewhere?

Re: Haworthia pumila cultivars info

Most of these Haworthia Pumila forms originated in Bob Kent's collection in California. I thought it was careful hand pollination of selected plants but he told me it was all down to humming birds. He gave up growing Haworthias a few years ago.

Re: Haworthia pumila cultivars info

Tulista Pumila gets 7710 Google hits, Haworthia Pumila gets 80,600. Time to kick Tulista into the long grass.

I've this one which came as 'Lilac Spoons' which I think is an Australian hybrid though it looks very similar. It used to be a magnet for mealy bugs until I started using SB Plant Invigorator which fixed it.

Saw the title and thought politics was creeping back into the Forum again. Seriously though, glad to see she's still there, it can't have been easy running a specialist shop like that during the past year. Hope she's been provided with some of the BCSS booklets.

I know Fragarioides is meant to be closely related to Clavata but this one came with both names on the label along with R&Y1986, it was much smaller when I bought it, still only in a 6.5cm pot but it doesn't look like Fragarioides to me.
