Re: Japanese Succulent Potting Mix
I currently use an Akadama mix and the breakdown issue, cost and difficulty getting in locally is leading me to review this and one option I am looking at is importing pumice from Europe getting it across the stretch of water between us and Europe is proving costly but if I can find enough interest...

Re: Japanese Succulent Potting Mix
In my experience Akadama does break down over time - more with my Bonsai but also eventually for C&S. Tesco cat litter (and the larger grained Sanicat product) are more durable. I am trying a range of plants in inorganic mixes including Haworthias and Pterocacti both of which seem to thrive in ...

Re: Japanese Succulent Potting Mix
Tesco lightweight cat litter is similar to akadama and is used by many growers of cactus, succulents and bonsai http://www.bonsai4me.co.uk/Basics/Basicscatlitter.htm How long does it take till the whole thing breaks down? Do you know when it needs repotting by looking at the top layer or is it like...

Japanese Succulent Potting Mix
Hello folks, Has anyone come across this Japanese succulent mix? It just looks like fired clay (akadama) and lot of pumice. Almost like the stuff I saw is being used by Toobee's Exotics. Does anyone know where to buy this from? I have just been using Japan imported Akadama clay used for Bonsai and I...

Re: Illegal plants
We have local parking restrictions that are ignored because the Council say their resources won't run to policing it. So what's the chances poor old John Ede will have DEFRA or INTERPOL knocking on his door? Zero I'd suggest. Well there needs to be a scapegoat once in a while and people who admit t...

Thanks for sharing your source! Tony I can come grab a bag off you from yours if you let me buy some ...
