Re: Spiny quiz

OK, so an Echinomastus then. Who knows what name you have on your label! "erectocentrus"? "dasyacanthus"? "intertextus"? Or maybe a different genus? Sclerocactus? Pediocactus?

Re: What's happening in my Lithops caf?...

Not leaves, not normal ones anyway. So probably an attempt at a flower, but appears to be a deformed one :)

Re: A very willing Mammillaria

Interesting. I'd dismissed M. mathildae because of the description of 9-11 hairlike radials, but some plants seem to show more needlelike radials and more of them just like my plant. Both the radials and centrals are pubescent (need a good lens!) which is something quite unusual so far as I can tell...

All my plants are happy enough down to 5C or maybe a little less between warm days. Even the Madagascan Euphorbia is forced to sit th...

Re: Slightly odd Conophytum

How much do I love my Conophytums? Apparently a little too much, they got to spend the whole night getting rained on. So they'll either break out or die now ;)

Re: Purple-flowered Lithops, apparently...

This Conophytum and Lithops olivacea look superficially similar with a greenish open window. The flower and capsule would be an obvious giveaway but the plants are also quite different even if it isn't obvious in a photograph. The Conophytum has small squidgy leaves which cluster strongly, maintain ...
