Re: Tunilla corrugata
Fantasic plants, Phil! Atleast you have collection data to go along with them. Since i've not seen these before i can't offer much else. I do also have a plant as T. orurensis which looks similar to yours, orangeish rusty spines but pads are a bit more flattened pads and a T. soehrensii that looks a...

Re: Frailea bud (help)
Hi Chris, Frailea flowers usually need a lot of heat to open, but they don't always open. Their flowers are cleistoglamic in where the flowers do not need to open or be pollinated to produce seed. They can go from bud to fruit without ever having a flower. However the seed does not remain viable for...

Re: Tunilla corrugata
Hi Liz, If you mean my photos if T. corrugata, yes those are 2 flower buds. Actually, pic 1 and pic 3 are the same plant, pic 3 being early this year, pic 1 being just a week or 2 ago. They do grow quickly! Hi Phil, Thanks for the reminder, i seem to always forget about that website. I see they some...

Re: Tunilla corrugata
Tunilla corrugata I find this one very distinct, hard to mistake it. Loads of glochids, or maybe they're spines? Grows flat, but can get a few pads tall. This has flowered, but i did not have a camera handy at bloom time. Flowers are a nice golden yellow. tunilla_corrugata.jpg tunilla_corrugata1.jp...

Re: Tunilla corrugata
Tunilla erectoclada These pads can get the largest at around 3.5". The spines are more uniform and all white, less scary? Pads can grow in an erect fashion, but these plants still do not grow very tall. This has flowered, red as seen. t_erectoclada2.jpg t_erectoclada1.jpg t_erectoclada4.jpg

Re: Tunilla corrugata
Airampoa picardoi HBG 98569 - ISI 2009-1. Comes from the Huntington Botanical Gardens from the 2009 ISI plants. These pads are easily twice the size of O. microdiscus, but it does seem to have a similar growth form, being more of a creeping spreader. No flowers on this yet, still rather small. This...

Re: Tunilla corrugata
Ok, here's what i've got, see what you all think. Opuntia microdiscus Grows very flat and wants to trail over the edge of the pot. Pads are very small, about 1", my ugly thumb is there for scale. No flowers yet. Despite being in synonomy with Tunilla erectoclada, this plant does not display any...
