many mennellii

Lithops bromfieldii v mennellii is one of the lithops that first caught my interest. It looks quite distinct from the other bromfieldii and its dark markings on a pale body are striking. I have grown a few different forms from seed over the past few years, mostly to see if any stand out in particula...

Finally Frailea

This flower has been lurking since April, and then suddenly burst into action. Frailea asterioides (castanea).

Re: Curious little thing

Werneri or pseudotrunc x gesinae? Gesinae body shape with pseudotrunc markings. Sperrgebiet would work for that. No idea why the flower would be that color though, but if it’s a hybrid that may be all the explanation that’s needed.

Mammillaria sphaerica

Lovely flowers on these plants. The flowers are not as fragrant as on other Dolichotheles (baumii!), but they make up for that in size. In my conditions the plants grow pretty much level with the soil. I don't think I'm that stingy with water though (bottom watering every week). Not the fastest grow...

Re: Red flower?

No red flowers here, but some different shades depending on how old the flowers are. One of the seedlings shows more purplish leaves earlier in the year, but greens up later. I have tried to get that one to set seed in the past, but no luck so far.

Aiko wrote: Sat Jul 03, 2021 11:56 pm Do you have locality data for both species, by any chance?
Both are from the same seed batch, ex ADBLPS. Parodia subterranea FR_731 > La Cueva/Chuquisaca/Bolivia ex MG 1143.602.

Re: Aylostera ID

I posted a pic of mine last month https://forum.bcss.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=171497&p=311261#p311261 My best guess was supthutiana, though that wasn't very well researched. I missed that thread... I'll update my label to 'aff. supthutiana' with the understanding that it may turn out to b...

Aylostera ID

I have this as 'Aylostera sp. nova Heger & Alber, Incahuasi, Bolivia' from ADBLPS seed, unfortunately without field number (other than the collectors) but with what I think is a Uhlig catalogue number (U4715). It has nice, dark cherry red flowers which my phone camera was unable to capture prope...
