More bulbine
Some of my bulbines are still in flower, but I've pretty much stopped watering most of them. One exception is mesembryanthoides, which I keep ticking over during the summer (in a more shaded and cooler spot) so it never loses its leaves completely. It's still in full flower, but the stronger sun and...

Didymaotus?
I grew this from seed labeled 'Didymaotus lapidiformis'. It is now 3 years old and seems to have the right idea about where the flowers should come from and how many there should be (at least I think they're flowers!), but the body doesn't fit the bill entirely. It spent the winter in our generous C...

Re: Aloe polyphylla germination
Side note: 'rozetvormend' is Dutch for 'forming a rosette', and most likely not part of the plant's name (Aloe dichotoma).

Re: Lithops in spring
Mine are catching up. I've started watering a few seedlings and the occasional lesliei or pseudotruncatella that is ahead of the pack. These aucampiae still have a week or two before their first splash: 'Dark Wine Red' ex Frik Du Plooy can turn a bit more brown in the sun later in Summer. I'm trying...

Re: Labels
I use white plastic Pylon labels. It's the only thing I've found that can stand the CA sun and not crumble in a year or so. I have labels going for close to 10 years now, exposed all year long to the sun and other than some discoloration they're still fine. They are the sturdy, molded type, not the ...

Re: Rotting seedlings
Hmm, from your description at first I thought it'd be a fungus or some micro-organism which can quickly take down all seedlings in a pot. But that doesn't match if what you show in your picture are affected seedlings. Are those seedling missing their bottom halves or hollowed out (maybe partially?)....

Re: That Lithops divergens
The 'coastal form' I assume? I have a number of seedlings, but nothing near flowering size. Mine still look like generic divergens.

Sad news. I have a good number of Gymno and Weingartia seedlings from seed off his list.

Re: Miniature Lachenalias
I like the rubida, I may have to look for some seeds. Here are some more: Lachenalia mutabilis with a nice blueish-purple raceme. L_mutabilis.jpg Lachenalia (Polyxena) paucifolia, a nice miniature especially in a community pot. L_paucifolia.jpg Lachenalia kliprandensis with raised spots on the leave...

Re: Miniature Lachenalias
Hi I don't grow these but its very nice looking, do you fancy showing some more   Some random Lachenalia pictures... L. framesii, also has undulated leaves. The flowers are similar to L. mutabilis, which has an even more pronounced blue-purple top part of the inflorescence. Lachenalia_f...
