Re: Lobivia 2383
Thanks, Ralph and Phil. Wonder where I got it? May have been my last visit to cactus mart, not always sure who the seller is at those. If it's of interest I found the name on here: http://www.cl-cactus.com/fn.asp?FnID=82171303132179781745 But as Spike Milligan once said: "A rose by any other na...

Lobivia 2383
Pretty sure that I got this little chap from Ralph Martin earlier this year (messed up my spreadsheet and I'm not 100% certain) Think it is now Lobivia cinnabarina LB 2383 from 30km West of Caneletas 2160m ? If Lobivia as such still exists. Whatever it is I was really surprised at the size and colou...

Re: Show us your pods
On 1st Sept 2020 I posted a picture of the seed pod on Stapelia leendertziae (see above) Today 5th May 2021 it has just opened (split, exploded?) Eight months. Seems a long time for the fruit to ripen or maybe that's because of low winter temperatures, although the greenhouse is usually 7C minimum. ...

evolving to evade collection
Not cacti but relevant to threads on collecting in the wild so may be of interest.

Re: Euphorbia ID
I had one come up when I sowed some society Euphorbia seed (Enopla?) Took me a while to realise what it was, but a nice surprise/added bonus!

Re: Show us your pods
That's a lot of pods. If they were yellow I'd be thinking "Minions".

Re: Show us your pods
I'm sure there are bigger pods out there, although we may be getting into "Invasion of the body snatchers" territory! In the past year I've had three Asclepiadaceae throw up pods. Orbea variegata double pod, Stapelia leendertziae single pod and Ceropegia sandersonii, which had a massive do...

Re: Show us your pods
That's not a pod... That's a pod! Stapelia leendertziae has crossed itself with something in the greenhouse. Getting prepared for a lot of dandelion like seeds when it decides to break. Sorry for the poor quality, camera's focussing really doesn't like the shape...
