Then there are these http://www.pestfree.co.uk/greenhouse-sulphur-candle.htm - anybody know if they release sulphur or sulphur dioxide?

Tephrocactus Study Group meeting

The March TSG journal was on my mat when I got home today. Inside there's mention of their meeting, the text of which is below: As stated in the December issue this will be held on Sunday 11th May 2008 at the Great Bar Ex Service Men and Women's Club, Birmingham, which is very near Junction 7 of the...

Re: All these names.....

Roseocactus, Rhodocactus...

I've been reading cactus books too long - plenty of those names don't look unusual to me!

Re: Sick Gymno?

I too have read of success with sulphur, watered on as a wettable powder. I've never looked for this, nor tried mixing my ordinary yellow sulphur with water to see if it can be suspended. I love the smell of it too (OK, I'm a bit strange) so should I ever get RSM it would be my first choice.

Re: BCSS photo gallery

I intended uploading a load of photos but was put off because it wouldn't accept my first one - it was too big. The thought of resizing them individually was too much at the time. Since then I've downloaded some software that a friend of mine claims can resize batches of photos, although I've yet to...

Re: Weingartia hediniana - is it ok?????

Usually, I'd agree that it looks nicer with proper spines - I'm normally a believer that the spiner, the better. Although your 'after' shot looks much healthier, I've got a bit of a soft spot for the short-spined Weingartia. I've only ever seen photos (and even they're far from commonplace) of W. ne...

Re: Its summer!

:X  What's really depressing is that the forecast I've been looking at doesn't show the temperatures being as warm was today again until next Thursday!

Re: Journal/Cactusworld/LithopsWorld here, wahey!

Yes, I've been aware of this and had hoped to see it in a cheap bookshop before now. I'd previously been led to believe that it was recycled photos from the Illustrated Dictionary, so was pleased to read otherwise.

Re: new member intro

A welcome from me too. When you came to Macclesfield to give your talk on Oaxaca (and Pulque!) last spring you had a scrolling powerpoint during the break of your Opuntias which I could have watched contentedly for ages - there were some fantastic plants in there. I have a few myself and can see the...
