Re: Phytosanitary certificates etc for seed from EU

Thank you for the information, Terry.

It is still intriguing why some Czech suppliers seem to be convinced their government requires them to issue phytosanitary certificates, if the onus is generally on the receiving country to make its import rules.

And very spiny for a Gymo m? Is this some form with a subspecies or varietal name? Or a hybrid?

Re: Another heater failure

My initial thoughts were as per Chris L's reply, i.e. consider the Bio Green. Then I realised from googling that the autoheat 3000 seems or seemed a budget solution and maybe paying for a Bio Green was overspending. The Inkbird model recommended by daydreamer is very good. Cheaper and with better sp...

Re: Phytosanitary certificates etc for seed from EU

I would suggest that it's looking a lot like an excuse to make money ... where there a few weeks ago was no problem ... as if by magic now there is. You can always rely on bureaucrats and politicians to foul it up ... and Delboy to make a fast buck. I can't see anyone would gain from this, though. ...

Re: Phytosanitary certificates etc for seed from EU

It should be OK, rules are here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/importing-plants-fruit-vegetables-or-plant-material-to-the-uk I would respectfully suggest that once again there is a confusion between UK import rules, and EU EXPORT rules. At least two of the Czech seed suppliers appear to be telling us...

Re: failed heater

If they are reasonably mature plants rather than seedlings I wouldn't worry too much about a short period of colder nights until you get the heater problem solved. If it's any consolation or encouragement I have cacti of all the genera you mention as being in your collection which survived many year...

Re: Phytosanitary certificates etc for seed from EU

At present, we can bring in seeds from outside the EU without Phytosanitary or CITES documentation, unless they are the endangered species on Appendix 1 of CITES. So if we leave the EU, there should be no immediate obligation for such documentation unless the UK Government decides otherwise. This i...
