Re: December Cactus world is here
If membership is renewed too late into the year, after the March Cactus World has been addressed in bulk, individual copies have to be send manually which causes extra work for unpaid Society Officials. Renewal online really is very easy. I must get round to it! - added five minutes later - done it!...

Re: Euphorbia from Homebase
I've seen this over the years, grown by the tens of thousands in Holland. It's grown from offsets which branch very freely, can't see any reason for removing the centre as it would branch regardless. The crested offsets are quite common but the main problem with this plant is that it marks badly fro...

Re: Falling apart
I feel a decent one makes a good show plant. Sadly the clones that fall apart are the one that tend to be propagated because they fall apart! They're the ones grown by the thousands in Holland but are destined to fall apart once they've grown a few segments. The clones, or maybe just the clone, that...

Amazon left my digital projector under my van just in front of the rear nearside wheel. If I'd been driving on my own I'd have driven over it.

Re: BCSS Membership
Don't worry, I think joining in December gets you the Cactus World which we all received a few days ago, along with all four issues for 2021.

Re: Flowering 'Baseball Bat'
Thanks, that explains the differing flowering forms, I'm surprised some 'botanist' hasn't messed up the genus by splitting into two with the two differing flower forms.

Re: A couple of Aloes in flower
Is it just me that gets botrytis on Aloe flowers this time of year. I stopped watering mid-October and most plants are reasonably dry now but with a spell of dull weather I tend to get botrytis on Aloe flowers even though the plants are dry. I've only Tylecodons that I water in the winter and keep t...

Re: Flowering 'Baseball Bat'
sans bat b.JPG This was the open flower on the 'Baseball Bat'. Quite what it was doing well away from the two leaves is odd though, as suggested, there might be more leaves that have flowered before surfacing. I'll find out when I repot it but it seemed a shame to knock it out of its pot when it wa...

Re: Crassula namaquensis
This wouldn't look out of place on the showbench - in the US. It wouldn't fit in my collection looking like that, but in using plants as an artwork, it's really quite attractive.
