Re: Extinct Mesemb Rediscovered
OK Derek, but lets not then hold up these reports and listings as being scientifically based, because they are obviously not. In many cases they are just one persons opinion based on a quick look around a site and finding nothing, not unknown even in the search for plentiful small cacti and succulen...

Re: Amerhauseri
Thanks John, I have changed the spelling above from G. amerhausii to G. amerhauseri . That is going by the label it came under without checking it! At that time I got it though there was no references to it in any publications I had. I have just checked it up in the NCL and it says for G. amerhauser...

Re: Extinct Mesemb Rediscovered
The danger is Phil and Chris this official pseudo-conservation is used to politically cover up the real threat to species that is land use for other purposes. If the habitat is destroyed the only place you can conserve the species is in cultivation. But politicians will seldom stop this type of land...

Re: Extinct Mesemb Rediscovered
There is such a thing as "crying wolf too often" Chris which brings the publication into disrepute. I am afraid CITES is starting to fall into this category and becoming a bit of a laughing stock, which does not help in serious conservation. The Red Data Book has to be careful it does not ...

Yes, I got a range of the Alan Craig numbers from there, plus I have some AWC seed from other sources yet to set.
The FK seed came direct from Fred Kattermann some years ago and Roger Ferryman gave me the RMF plant.

Re: BCSS Survey Reminder
Why don't you put the questionnaire on here as a poll, or if that can't be done as a sheet to print out and send in for those who are not society members?
