Re: Rebutia eos v. roseiflora

This is what I know as Rebutia pygmaea 'eos', a couple of different clones. I'm not familiar with a 'roseiflora' form either.

Re: Some Choice (Thelocephala) Eriosyces

As you say Diane, it does look more like napina glabrescens, itself pretty variable. I just assumed something from Mesa Garden would be correctly named. Having said that I have some seedlings from Mesa Garden seed sold as Mammillaria albiarmata that are clearly albilanata, kind of excusable, but als...

Re: It's Sulco season!

Love them all. Some really nice large clean plants. The thrips made quite a mess of a number of mine last year. The seemed to go especially for the spines for some reason, rasping of the surface in bands giving them an ugly zebra-striped appearance.

Re: Fried or boiled?

I've just had an old Turbinicarpus rioverdensis go the same way. It got hot soon after being watered, so boiled is the answer I think. Other plants around it seem OK though. Curious. I'd be inclined to graft that Astrophytum if it's precious to you, they can be troublesome to root, and that's quite ...

Super plant Mike. A really nice coloured form. Mine seems to be sulking this year, can't even see any buds.

Re: Some Choice (Thelocephala) Eriosyces

Thanks for the information Dave and Ian. AWC 513 is elongated and I'm pretty sure it's a form of lembckei v. duripulpa. You can see a bit more of the plant body and spination in this picture. Eriosyce_napina_lembckei_duripulpa_AWC513.jpg Alan Craig certainly did collect some 'oddball' Thelocephalas ...
