Re: Deep seed tray or similar - any ideas ?

It's http://www.wilko.com True - I just found them with a search and didn't copy the url because I hadn't found what I was looking for, but they do have the .co.uk domain as well it just redirects - mind you I did spell the whole thing fairly badly... The problem is that here in west Wales if it's ...

Re: Deep seed tray or similar - any ideas ?

Of course I cannot find them on www/wilkos.co.uk and http://www.twowests.co.uk/product/deluxe-seed-trays has four for 9.65 plus 4.99 p&p...I must look further, buying small quantities for delivery is often quite costly. It did make me wonder about http://www.3jc.co.uk/parts-and-storage-boxes/ind...

Re: Deep seed tray or similar - any ideas ?

Thanks for all the replies...I must admit that I hadn't seen the deep seed trays from Stewarts/Wards, I had obviously been looking in the wrong places. They certain are just the right depth and I'll get some of those shortly - there's a Wilkos in the nearby town (they do a collect from store - usefu...

Re: Off-colour water from the water butt

Out of interest what's the volume of the butt, and how often is it cleaned out, and the gutters ? I have two 1000l IBCs which I always mean to empty in the winter but in the years that I've had then (since 2010) have never done so. However the building is not too near to any trees and so I just clea...

Deep seed tray or similar - any ideas ?

I have quite a lot of seedlings from 2014 that will need transplanting over the summer and especially in this case where there are quite a lot of a few species I felt that even potting up a few to a 7 or 9 cm pot (several times that is) will be somewhat inefficient in bench space. For a number of ye...

Re: Massonia wittebergensis / Drimia elata summer dormancy?

As the plants were due for some watering today I thought that I would have a look at the pot of M. wittebergensis here... Like yours there has been no growth this year and as my predominantly coir/perlite mix does not set - except where bound by roots - it was easy to have a quick poke around. The s...

Re: What's happen?Sun burn or fungus?

Has it been growing well in the past, with no signs of problems ? Have you checked the soil and roots ? I would agree with the fungus diagnosis, This is quite succinct http://ag.arizona.edu/pubs/garden/mg/damage/determine.html I was trying to find information which might indicate whether the rings w...

Re: Off-colour water from the water butt

...it may take the salts time to build up to toxic levels in the pot ... If they are water-soluble, which I presume is the case because they have arrived in solution and then precipitated out on the pot or in the compost because of evaporation, it should be relatively straightforward to remove them...

Re: Off-colour water from the water butt

... We've had a bit of the infamous Sahara dust here in Portugal lately, could it be that it made the extra 1000 miles north? Easily and not infrequently - there was some here in west Wales some months ago which was very fine and rather like a sludge at the bottom of a bucket that was under the dow...

Re: Off-colour water from the water butt

I suppose I should really first ask whether you do usually look at your water....very often a useful thing to do. Certainly algae are not always the greenest green but the other possibility is simply dust. I haven't seen any reports of Sahara dust over the country - I say Sahara as it is the usual s...
