Well, I'll be contrary. I give my plants plenty of food (and not low nitrogen, either), and water, yet I suspect the few losses I have over winter are more due to low temperature and pathogens than "lushness". I think "lushness" is best avoided by giving plants really good light,...

Ralph, Do these two species generally flower when the plants are this small?
To be honest, I don't know. I obtained both as cuttings, but I suppose they could have been cuttings of larger plants, already primed to flower.

Top picture right, something like Gymnocalycium anisitsii - there are quite a few similar looking species. 2nd picture right - rather too young to be certain, but may turn out to be Lobivia ferox, or if not, some other strong spined Lobivia. 3rd picture - might just be offsets of the the plant in th...

The one on the right is Humke's Kleine Gelbe. A super flower. I cant't remember if the other one is is Humke's Röschen or Rudolf Herzog, but I think the former.

Nice flower! I used to have an old (1970s?) seed catalogue from some continental company with this on the front. It reminds me a bit of Lotus berthelotii.
