Re: Read any good books??
"Succulents. The Illustrated Dictionary" by Maurizio Sajeva and Mariangela Costanzo 1995) is a nice general book. It sometimes crops up in cheap bookshops too, though less so nowadays. There's about 1200 photos, 6 to a page, with a fairly brief description. There is a 'vol 2' published mor...

Re: Having second thoughts
Paul in Essex has done years of experimentation with Agave outside - he will see this post but you might have to wait a while. He's on the 'Essex Riviera' though, so has very favourable conditions. Re: Achieving consistency in shows!
Yes, the emphasis of what I wrote was definitely the competition aspect, I do like seeing others' plants, though the fact that some species are likely to rate more highly of than others limits the range a bit. Some show specimens look so unreal they might as well be man made.

Re: Espostoa species - unknown names
There's a nice Espostoa distribution map in an old journal (BCSS 1999, 17(2), 73). It shows a Rio Crijnejas (different spelling) around which grow E. lanianuligera (now taken as a ssp of lanata) and blossfeldiorum (the latter of which that seedling doesn't look like). If you can work out where the K...

Re: Espostoa species - unknown names
The cornifera is listed here too so presumably you've spelled it the same as Rowlands.

Re: Espostoa species - unknown names
It must be a very small (or misspelled) village as a google of just the word on its own hits nothing.
