Re: The Autumn Cactus and Succulent Show at RHS Harlow Carr on 23 September 2023 - the photographs thread not the politi
I would hope that the show was a competition of "GROWING" rather than "GRAMMAR" Its not "GRAMMAR", its "TAXONOMY" (sic). And I would hope that getting the name of something right is important, whether on the show bench or in your own greenhouse. To my mind it...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
In my mind I have them as closer to isthmensis - highly mammilate, clustering. But the populations in Mexico are so variable that they could all just be potatorum anyway. The first four pics on this page of one of my travelogues show plants in the same population along the same stretch of road withi...

Re: Opuntia ID please - macrocentra?
I have a book he co-wrote with Cheryl W Green called 'Prickly Pears' but I find the layout a bit confusing. The website is a lot clearer. Back in the infancy of the internet there was a email group called 'Too Cold For Cactus' and DJF was a regular conbtributor. I always looked forward to his commen...

Thank you Tom. That is an incredible resource! I only know a little bit about opuntias and it seems what I thought I knew is wrong!
