Hi Julie. They tend to get quite straggly as time goes by so every year I cut down the long stems and pop 'em in some dry compost for a couple of weeks or more.
I've actually now got enough plants to have made two hanging baskets and they are now dangling from our pergola in the garden.

No wonder he's nervous. With a girl's name, every time there's a knock on the door he won't know which way to turn!(:D

Re: Your ugliest plant?
Actually Ian, your plant looks like it has been bombed by a low-flying pigeon (or more likely, a low-flying cow!).
Julie - just stick it in some compost and leave it. They root easily.

Re: Your ugliest plant?
Sorry Ian, but this grafted Echinocereus Knippelanius cristate must win the prize for the ugliest plant of any species. It's 'orrible!
And year after year, it just gets bigger.

Denmoza Rhodacantha
I repotted this plant today and it occurred to me that Denmozas are not often to the forefront when one thinks of cacti. To my way of thinking this is an attractive plant (the specimen pictured is about 15" round excluding the spines). I would certainly appreciate seeing others. [attachment 312...

Re: Some of todays flowers Solved
I too have my first Copiapoa flower of the year.
This is a handsome but curious plant. It's labelled as Copipoa Mollicula, but I have reservations - it's very dark grey in colour (almost a pale black) and it could perhaps be a Marginata.

Re: Nursery Query?
Back to Selected Succulents, I agree with David's comments. Joaquin is a young chap and was enthusiastically trying to develop his Aztekia website into a substantive and informative resource, no doubt allowing the time needed for that to impinge upon his packing and delivery of orders (especially Eb...

Re: Nursery Query?
I had quite a lot to do with Joaquin Lozano who owns Selected Succulents, which is also known as Aztekia (see Aztekia.com) and in fact, translated a few of his Aztekia pages from 'pidgin' English to something a little more legible. His plants are generally good but he ran into delivery problems over...

Re: Echinocereus ID?
Looks like polyacanthus to me. Check the Cactus Lexicon, page 62 (pic 4), albeit the flower on your plant seems rather more 'salmony'.
