Re: Pterocactus nequensis

It is the decision of those who describe the plant.
And believe me - it is not easy!

Re: Pterocactus nequensis

Hi Kees,

the plant isn't new. It has been sold for many year as Pterocactus araucanus from Neuquen. As it is different from P. araucanus my wife and I described Pterocactus neuquensis in the September KuaS 2016 together with Roberto Kiesling.

Best regards

Re: Pterocactus nequensis

I prefer the spiny form of P. neuquensis.

Re: Eriosyce?

It is a question of dimensions too.
This is Eriosyce aurata or E. cer..., iho... (choose the name you like).

Re: CITES and cactus seeds: question Solved

As a European I won't give any comment on the British decision BREXIT. As a cactus entusiast and active member of Tephrocactus study group I think it is neccessary to give some comments about CITES and the future. CITES is an international regulation that GB joined in 1980 - before the special EU re...

Re: Too hot for my pterocactus

Hi Chris, this is a bad summer for Pterocacti. If it is hot and you water the plants they will be boiled. The best is to give them as much fresh air as possible. In habitat the plants often loose the offsets in summer - but the root is always in the cool soil. The labels show that the soil and the p...

Re: Pterocactus flower bud (???)

Hi Chris,
as P. kuntzei is a synonym of P. tuberosus it is a flower of P. tuberosus.
