Moneygram and Western Union are not solely the tools of scammers. They provided an international service many years before the major banks got in on the act and began to make it easier (to make more money for themselves).

That is not so much of a disadvantage as may seem.habanerocat wrote:The remote sensor uses batteries.
Most of my remote home automation devices use batteries (AA or AAA) and I don't expect to change them more than once a year - my weather station is still using those it was supplied with back in 2013!

http://www.fuchs-shop.com/en/ may be worth looking at too
As you have ethernet to each location you could consider using single board or plug type computers with 1-wire Maxim/Dallas DS1820 sensor. RaspberryPi or PiZero would be good choices and plenty of resources online

I don't do Amazon so no idea of their offerings. I have a couple of RF devices and 1-wire too but that sort of setup is probably beyond what you're after :) The simplest device is a stick-on-to-the-outside of window thermometer. More sophisticated devices are often incorporated into 'home weather st...

On the subject of sulphur, I have been told it will be a good overall deterrent of pests if left to sublimate on its own in the greenhouse, but I'm not sure if it is worth mentioning for the UK. I have tried putting a number of containers with sulphur in the greenhouse, but I doubt they will be any...

Re: Staging for a new greenhouse?
I bought some 2 Wests & Elliot trays, and frankly they were a disappointment - they were bent aluminium sheet, whose corners were not sealed - so would not hold water. A long time ago I made up some aluminium trays from sheet for a dewpoint cabinet when I was growing carnivorous plants. The tra...

Re: Gymnocalycium?
Mm.. interesting, thanks. Found a few similar looking images so I'm happy - but I have another labelled as G. stenopleurum that had a greenish looking flower - though I cannot be sure it had opened fully in one of the poor spells of weather we had earlier in the year.

Re: Illegal plants
My simple mind is wondering how all this works
What if a plant, or its offspring, in my collection was brought back from Mexico prior to this legislation (1997?) perhaps by a Victorian or even earlier traveller/explorer/botanist?
