Re: Wikipedia list
Nice to see that both Andinopuntia lagopus : Guiggi , and Punotia lagopus : D R Hunt have now been published No problem, the type of Andinopuntia is A. floccosa, while the type of Punotia is P. lagopus  I would call them all just Opuntia. Would save quite a few name changes. Then the experts ...

Re: Encholirium agavoides
Hi Derek, I also saw the picture of Encholirium agavoides in the article describing the new Pilosocereus frewenii in Bradleya, and it was precisely because I found that plant so striking that it prompted me to search the net for more information about it. I went to Kew's website to get the original ...

Encholirium agavoides
I just noticed that two new Encholirium species have been described for Brazil, one of them is a beautiful small species aptly named Encholirium agavoides . Re: My first in 2011 (Sans cylindrica)
I prefer this species in its smaller, more colorful seedling stage. Thus each year I collect the fruits that set spontaneously in my mom's garden, and sow them for the next crop of small plants. As they get bigger I get rid of them, giving them away. Below is a picture of some ripe fruits of Sansevi...

Re: My first in 2011 (Sans cylindrica)
This species grows so fast and it is so undemanding, I use it as a border plant in my mothers house, in a place where she cannot keep other plants alive, because of the scorching sun and general lack of watering  : SAM_1127-1200.jpg SAM_1097-1200.jpg SAM_1131-1200.jpg SAM_1098-1200.jpg

Re: My first in 2011 (Sans cylindrica)
As you can see in the previous pictures, if you give them a lot of light they will not only develop the cylindrical leaves earlier, but also will have a nice pattern of light silvery color with darker green cross-banding and even darker longitudinal lines. And if you plant them in a big pot or in th...

Re: My first in 2011 (Sans cylindrica)
Hi Devrim, Give your seedlings plenty of light, it will make they develop cylindrical leaves faster. Of course you must not move them from the shade directly to a sunny spot, but you should acclimatize them gradually to more intense light. This will also bring out the color of the leaves much better...

Re: My first in 2011 (Sans cylindrica)
Hi Devrim, All Sansevieria seedlings of cylindrical-leaved species start out with flat leaves. Each new leaf will be more and more rounded with a narrower groove or channel in the middle, until the newer leaves become completely cylindrical. The same process happens with offsets from leaf-cuttings i...
