Re: Conophytum query

Hi, I have a Conophytum which has lost a part of its label it now reads “ ophytum reiflorum. I have been through the list of species on Wikipedia and can’t find any species which ends with reiflorum. Can anybody come up with a suitable name for this so I can do a new label? I’d be very grateful. Co...

Re: Conophytum heerei V Cono lydiae v.Hanamaepense??

There are other species particularly in the pellucidum group which have windowed leaves. Take a look at my website photos and if you would like to research further, I have pdf files of Hammer's conophytum books you could download to your computer.

Re: Conophytum heerei V Cono lydiae v.Hanamaepense??

I'm wondering why there are more comments about the other stuff in the pots than about the conos questioned in the post? I did my best to answer but even the OP hasn't acknowledged it

Re: Conophytum heerei V Cono lydiae v.Hanamaepense??

Much confusion here......but then the Ophthalmophyllum group is often not easy to understand with so many old names lost to synonymy. I do wonder why these old names persist in cultivation. It's herrei after Hans Herre, (not heerei) and there has never been a lydiae var. haramoepense (note spelling ...

Re: Adromischus ID please

I had this growing quite happily outside for several years but it ended up getting crowded out and too shaded. I'd like to get a name so I can replace it :) Looking at pics online it seems to be either rupicola or maculata but I can't tell the difference! Many thanks adromiscus.jpg It's a common an...

Re: Price suggestions for `Dumpling` book

Both of Hammer's books are still desirable but I've been giving away .pdf's of both for ages. Same as with our Adromischus book, it's also available as a .pdf but it doesn't lessen the demand for a hard copy.

Sorry but with not receiving notifications I've only just seen this question. Nothing technical, I simply put a loupe in front of my camera lens and it works OK.

Re: Conophytums

Unless one has a aversion or objection to insecticides then in my experience a regular dose of a systemic will control mealy and other nasties. I've not grown a cactus for many years and use various insecticides on my succulent collection which is clean and has been since I can remember. I must add ...
