This pic might answer the question on whether they will hybridise. I crossed the Digi with A. myrio. ssp. strongylogonum (the only Astro in flower at the same time), with a seedpod resulting. This opened yesterday, to show a few seeds. Whether it was tricked into selfing, i shall only know when any ...

Hope so, James! But as the first plant had already wilted, as it opened the day before, not sure whether the pollen would still be fertile. Unlike some Discos, they seem quite easy to germinate, it's keeping them going afterwards that's tricky - I now graft mine, though I once grew one on its own ro...

gymnocalycium berchtii has a very dark epidermis, Maria has a pic in the photo library.

I was just going to suggest the same, Phil. Doug and Vivi Rowlands of southwest Seeds have a very good list, and you can just send them a cheque, no bothers with overseas payments and postage. Try them, Robert.

Good luck, Colin! I think it was 1996 I entered a few plants, and was rewarded with several prize cards, though I can't remember what they were now! It's always worth having a go, you never know your luck!
