Re: Thrixanthocereus senilis question

Thanks for the replies (tu)

So no need to fret too much about it being outdoors then. Plenty of air movement, my mix is free draining and the eaves of the house extend out far enough to give all my small cacti reasonable protection from monsoon weather.

Thrixanthocereus senilis question

Last year I bought a Thrixanthocereus senilis which I googled (as I do with my impulse buys) for care info. I seem to recall reading that it was prone to rot if overwatered but I'll be damned if I can find that now. Is this correct or have I imagined it? It's back in growth now in the porch and look...

Thanks Liz (tu)

I suspected that it was a bit of an ask (hence the thread title) but if you don't ask and all that..............

Yes, and for BCSS Show purposes they are included in the Anacampseros Group.
Thanks - I feel more like a proper member now as I can grow them reasonably well

Echeveria id's (if possible)

I have a few noid Echeveria that I would like to id if at all possible. The usual thing, bought from places like Wilko in those blister packs for a few pennies. Number 1; It is about 15cm in diameter and mature leaves are 4 to 5cm in length. When I bought it last July it was about 6 or 7cm across so...

Re: Went to the GC to buy a bodywarmer and.........

This place is like the Waitrose of GCs - top dollar is the normal price but when they discount stuff they do it properly! So (for example) if you were minded to buy a Medinilla magnifica you should be able to get one for two or three quid towards the end of there bloom period. BTW Did you remember t...

Went to the GC to buy a bodywarmer and.........

I needed a new bodywarmer as I only have one left so I went to a local GC that has a really good clothing concession. Whilst I was there I thought that I should have a look at the plants and started off (as usual) in the bargain bin. I left with this Kalanchoe 'Dorothy'.............. https://farm1.s...

Re: Bulbine questions

Thank you all for the replies!

Both are in bud now outdoors.
Bulbinella it is then. It looked too different to be correctly named.
I can't see it becoming too invasive here in the Cotswolds. A few seedlings have popped up but are easily dealt with.

Bulbine questions

I have a couple of Bulbine frutescens but they appear different in a few ways. The orange one was a division at the end of 2016 and kept in the front porch that winter. It grew well last year and was overwintered in an unheated greenhouse. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4278/35390718640_e41b8c9971_c...
