Re: Proof that Mexico has been exporting cacti
Really Dave? are we still parroting that myth after I posted the regulations for the EU vs. the US showing that the EU actually has lower burdens on exports and imports under CITES than the US?

Re: Melocactus pods
Is there a reason for calling them pods? I always just figured they were fruits.

Re: Field Number Database - The Future
Take the Raspberry pi option, find a network point in the University library behind a bookshelf, plug it in there, leave it, and hope no one finds it  Nice try! Unfortunately, all machines have to be registered before they will work on the university network. Presumably because at some p...

Re: Field Number Database - The Long Term
Hosting it elsewhere could be cheaper, for sure, but somewhat less convenient in terms of having control over setup, access, backup, etc. I don't think this is really true, you'll have far more options over hosting setup on most modern hosting providers than you can ever give yourself at home. Back...

Re: Field Number Database - The Long Term
It depends how bothered you are about retaining control of it Ralph, but if you're not bothered about guaranteeing retaining control and credit, one option is to simply open source the dataset, upload it to any number of file hosting sites or repositories and see who runs with it. This means even in...
